Save As Symbol

Save the sheet, symbol and logo in the symbol library.

  • The drawing file of the symbol is saved as well as a thumbnail image file, based on which you can select the symbol from the library.
  • Elements inside the drawing limits will be saved as the symbol. Before saving a symbol, update the drawing limits.
  • The center point will be saved as an insertion point of the symbol unless you choose another insertion point during saving. The symbol is of the vxp file type.

Do as follows:

  1. Draw a symbol in the drawing window.

If you create a sheet, draw a sheet on the sheet (Drawing), which scale is 1:1.

  2. Update the limits of the drawing by selecting the context-sensitive function Update.
  3. In the Symbols group, select Save as symbol.
  4. If necessary, create a new folder in the library.

Note:
  • When the symbol is saved, a Vertex Browser thumbnail image is also automatically saved. The file name you specify for a symbol when saving it is displayed as the name of the symbol below its thumbnail image in the browser. When you save a symbol, vxp and bmp files will be created.
  • If you wish to edit the geometry of a symbol later, open the symbol from the library with the Read symbol for editing function, explode the group, and make the necessary changes, and save the symbol again to the symbol library with the same name.
  • You can delete or rename subfolders in the symbol library using Windows Explorer. You can delete symbols or rename them, provided that you remember to rename both symbol files. Notice the naming rule.
