Save a Diagram Symbol in the Symbol Library

Diagram symbols can be drawing-specific or they can be saved in the symbol library.

  1. Draw a symbol.
  2. You can add a symbol pattern in the covering layer, in which case the symbol covers the diagram line when you select Remove Hidden Lines.

    Create a Covering Symbol

  3. Select all symbol lines, and select Confirm.

    Save to Library

    1. Select the context-sensitive function Save to Symbol Library.
    2. If you have added a symbol texture in the covering layer, you can set a default type for the symbol using the function Symbols> Symbol Types.
    3. Move the cursor to the final text row and select the context-sensitive function Add Row After.

    4. Click the button on the empty row.
    5. Select the option Shared Symbols and select the symbol you created earlier.
    6. Select the symbol type by clicking the button.
    7. Click OK.

    Save as drawing-specific

    1. Select the context-sensitive function Store Group as Macro to Active Drawing.
    2. Enter a code.

  • Vertex G4 Plant Design: You can also use Plant 12 version symbols.

Saving Diagram Symbols Imported into Vertex

Diagram symbols, such as DWG blocks, that have been imported from another system can be defined as diagram symbols.

Drawings from which you want to save a diagram symbol must be defined as PI schema drawings.
