Zebra Shading

Zebra shading is used when examining the mutual continuity of adjacent surfaces. The shading is drawn more precisely when you zoom in closer to the model. Zebra shading will change to apply to all models on the Vertex desktop at once.

The options for surface continuity are:
  • No continuity: There is a gap between the surfaces.
    • The ends of the stripes don't end on the same edge.
    • The model is not an intact volume model.
  • G0 continuity: The surfaces have a common edge.
    • The stripes end on a common edge, but do not extend over the edge.
    • The Acis geometry of the model is intact.
  • G1 continuity: The surfaces are tangential (includes G0).
    • The stripes end at the same point on the common edge.
    • For example, a rounded cube edge.
  • G2 continuity: The curvature does not change suddenly at the edge (includes G0 + G1).
    • The stripes run over the edge smoothly as if there was no edge.
    • Designers seek this form.
