Item Data Maintenance
Overview of items
- If the company uses a production control system (ERP), then most often the so-called purchase items are created and maintained there.
- The items of the products to be designed (parts and assemblies) are mainly created as the design work progresses with Vertex G4 and they are transferred to the production control system.
Item management in Vertex G4
- For item management, we recommend purchasing the product data management system Vertex Flow, which is connected to the design program Vertex G4. A connection is built between Vertex Flow and the production control system (ERP), which allows the necessary items to be updated in both directions.
- Previously, we built customer-specific links directly between Vertex G4 item database (d_COMPONENTS) and production control systems. This is still possible, but we do not recommend this.
- If such a production control system that maintains items is not in use, it is possible to add item data manually in Vertex with the item database management function.
- An alternative to this is to use the Excel program, where the item database is transferred for editing and from where the data is imported back to the item database.
