Set a Texture From an Image File
Rendering
General
- You can use a photo or other image file to add a pattern or texture on the surface of a part model.
- The function allows you to add a texture to a part or its surface using a photo.
- Supported image file formats are JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF and TIFF.
- The function requires that the Rendering add-on option is available to you.
- After adding the texture, you can use the function Rendering > Relocate Material to better locate the texture. For example, you can locate a photograph inside a picture frame.
- After adding the texture, you can use the function Rendering > Edit Material to change the texture scale.
Set a texture on a part or surface
- Select a part or a surface.
- Select a surface or surfaces of a part model.
- Hold down the Ctrl key if you select more than one surface.
- If you do not select anything in the part model, the texture applies to all surfaces in the part model that have not been given a separate rendering material.
- In an assembly, select the part or parts on which you want to set the texture.
- Hold down the Ctrl key if you select more than one part.
- Select a surface or surfaces of a part model.
- Select the context-sensitive function Rendering > Set Texture From Image File.
- You can add a texture to all surfaces of a part model also by dragging the image file to the part model window (drag and drop).
- The program opens the dialog box Edit Rendering Material.
- Select the Image File and Scale.
- Confirm by clicking OK.
