Add or Change the Material of a Part
General
- The context-sensitive function Rendering > Change Material adds rendering material
- On the selected surface or
- On all surfaces of the part for which no other material is separately selected, if no surface is selected.
- You can select the rendering material from the library or by clicking a surface that already has the desired material in the model.
- A rendering material cannot be deleted once it has been added, but it can be changed
Add or change the rendering material in a part model
- Do you want to set the material on the whole part or on one or more surfaces?
- On the whole part (excluding surfaces that already have material). Start from step 2.
- Only on some surfaces. Start from step 1.
- Select the surface or surfaces on which you want to set the material:
- Hold down the Ctrl key if you select more than one surface.
- Select the context-sensitive function Rendering > Change Material.
- The program opens the dialog box Change Rendering Material.
- If the model has configurations, select
- Whether the rendering material to be selected will affect all configurations or
- Whether the rendering material to be selected affects only the selected configurations.
- Select the configurations to which you want the rendering material.
- Select the material selection method
- Select the material from the library by clicking the Browse button. Select the library and the folder, and double-click the material.
- If you want to select a material from the model face, click Pick from surface. Click the model face, the material of which you want to select.
- Browse the library and select the material by double-clicking.
- Functionality and further choices depend on the type of material you selected.
- In some cases, such as paints, the gloss level is first asked and then the choice of color from the color chart.
- Rendering Material Dialog Box
- Select OK.
Add or change the rendering material in the assembly model
- Select the part or parts you want to set the material on
- Hold down the Ctrl key if you select more than one part
- Continue as above steps 2...6
Note:
- The browser shows the My Library (user's materials) and Vertex Library (software supplier's materials).
- The texture of some materials is displayed in the OpenGL shaded model.
