Thin Out

Point clouds

Thin the number of points in the point clouds added to the model. The program reduces the number of points so that two adjacent points are not found closer to the given thinning interval.

  1. Select Point clouds | Thin out.

The Thin Out dialog box opens. The dialog box shows the point clouds found in the model. When you move the cursor to a point cloud row in the list, the program marks it in the model and in the feature tree.

  2. Select or clear the selection of a point cloud in the list.
  3. In the Resolution list, select the thinning interval in millimeters for the selected point clouds.
Note: Alternatively, select the point cloud from the feature tree and from the right-click menu, select Point cloud > Thin out.
Note: If the point cloud has subclouds (e57 files only), they appear as a single cloud after import in the Vertex model, even though they are actually separate. The thin-out function combines the subclouds before thinning.
