Add a Sub Model

The function is available without the Sub Projects add-on option.

Start designing by creating a new building - main model. Add a drawing-model pair of the sub model into the active drawing-model pair of the main model. The drawing-model pair will be added as a reference drawing and reference model.

  1. Select Modeling | Zone | Sub Model.
  2. Select the sub model and the drawing-model pair in a dialog box.

  3. If you choose to add the entire drawing-model pair from the sub model, you can position the sub model in the main model's drawing-model pair in either a floor plan drawing or a model. As a default, the origin of the reference drawing or model will be used as the reference point. Before positioning the sub model, you can use the functions in the auxiliary menu to rotate or mirror the sub model, change the locating point or add the sub model as a chain of copies, for example.

  4. Select the location of the sub model.
Note: If you are using a steel framing system, you can base your sub model on a template building called TEMPLATE-FLAT. The building includes a coarse framing model frame_coarse.vxm in which profiles are shown in a coarse configuration. You can use this coarse model when you add a sub model to the main model. This makes the building lighter and easier to manage.
Note: You can load a drawing from the same sub model to another drawing-model pair of the main model by using the function Load a Sub Model.
