Open a Sub Model for Editing

Sub Projects

You cannot edit a sub model in the main model, but you need to open it for editing using a separate function. Open a sub model for editing as follows:

  1. Select the sub model to be edited.
  2. Do either of the following:
    • Select Sub Project | Open.
    • Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu, and select Open Sub Model for Editing.
  3. If the sub model is in the local archive, you can select the editing method and, if necessary, copy the sub model and enter a new id for it. Select the editing method in the dialog box.

Open a Sub Model for Editing

If the sub model is in the DesignStream system, it opens for editing without selecting the editing method.

The program will close and save the active building and open the sub model.

  4. Select the drawing-model pair to be edited from a button menu.
  5. Make the changes.
  6. Save the sub model building by selecting > Save Building.
  7. Return the changes by using the function Close an Edited Sub Model.
Note: You cannot close the sub model or open other buildings before you have returned the edited sub model using the function Close an Edited Sub Model.
