Move an Element
Move the selected elements to a new location by selecting the Move function from the context-sensitive menu. You can move the elements within the same drawing in which you have selected the elements.
- Select one or more elements.
- Select the context-sensitive function Move.
- Select a reference point.
- A dashed line is drawn from the reference point when the cursor is close to vertical or
horizontal or at a 45-degree angle. The cursor will then change into a symbol indicating
that you can constrain the cursor in the direction in question.
- Lock the cursor in the desired direction by clicking the left mouse button.
- You can prevent the direction constraint by pressing the Alt key when clicking the location.
- Select a new location for the reference point.
Before clicking the location, you can select auxiliary functions from the additional menu, for example, rotate the element or change its height.
You can rotate the element in the XY plane also by using keyboard commands.
Note
- Texts and symbol labels associatively added to the elements are copied with the selected elements when you use the Associative Elements Follow function. The locked associative texts are an exception. Associative Elements Follow
- When clicking the reference point of a symbol, the cursor snaps to the reference point and position point of a symbol. A position point is the point, from which the symbol was located. If you have selected more than one symbol, the cursor snaps to reference points and position points of all selected symbols in the drawing.
- If you don't select the reference point from the symbol, the default reference point is the position point, from which the symbol was located. If this point doesn't exist, the first reference point is the default reference point. If you have selected more than one symbol, the cursor snaps to the location point, left lower corner. The meaning of this point is described in the section Selecting Location Point.
- You can move elements within the same drawing using the context-sensitive menu function Clipboard, Cut and Paste.
- You can also move individual elements by dragging from the handle.
