Calculating the Line Length in a Drawing

This function can be used to calculate the length of a line, polyline section, the gap between line endpoints, and their total length. When the lines do not have common end points, the lengths of gaps between the lines are calculated. The calculated line can be a continuous line or comprise more than one line, making it a polyline. Choose the line selection method from the additional menu. You can open the calculation result in a text editor, add it to the drawing, save it in a file or print it out on a printer. Before specifying a position for the calculation result, you can activate the text positioning helper function.

Perform the line length calculation as follows:

  1. Select Quantities> Calculate line length.
  2. Choose the line selection method from the additional menu.
  3. Select a line or a polyline, based on the line selection method you chose.
  4. Choose one of the following as the destination of the calculation results:
    • Text Editor - The calculation result is opened in a text editing window.
    • Insert to Drawing - Click a position in the drawing for the calculation result.

      Auxiliary Text Adding Functions
