Shift the Layers of Symbol (Group) Elements

Before selecting a position for an element, you can define the layer on which they are placed.

The property can be selected when you add a symbol, move a group or paste elements to the drawing from the clipboard, for example.

The elements can be placed as follows:

  • On the original layer

The default layer when adding elements is -1, placing the elements on their original layers.

  • To the layer selected from the Layer list

If necessary, you can select a different layer from the Layer list to place the elements on the desired layer.

  • Layers can be shifted also

If you also select Layer Shift on the Properties tab, the element layers are determined by adding the layer number selected from the Layer list to the original layer.

Element Belongs to a Layer System

If an element belongs to a layer system, the layer relative to the layer system in question is used as the element layer.

Example - A layer system comprises layers 11, 12, 13 and 14. Select 31 as the new layer from the Layer list. Relative to the layer system, a line on layer 13 will be on layer base layer (11) + 2. In the new group, the line is placed on layer 31 + 2.

Note

  • If necessary, you can remove the Layer Shift property of a symbol by selecting the symbol properties for editing. In the symbol properties, clear the check box Layer Shift.
