Symbol Properties

You can define the properties of a drawing-specific symbol in the drawing, when you select a single symbol to edit.

  1. Select the symbol.
  2. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Edit the symbol data in the dialog box.
  5. Click OK.

Dialog Box Options

Layer
Select the layer of the symbol. With the option Default layers, the basic geometric elements forming the symbol are positioned to their original layers.
Angle
Enter the angle of the symbol in the XY plane. The default value is 0.
Skewness
Define the slanting angle of the symbol by entering a slant-factor, which is a tangent of the slanting angle. Separate the decimal parts of the slant factor by using a period. The default value is 0.
X Scale, Y Scale
Define the scaling of the symbol with factors in the direction of the X and Y axes (default value 1). When Lock ratio is selected, the same scaling factor is set for both fields.
Color
Select the color of the symbol, and in addition select or clear the property Solid color.
  • With the option Default, the basic geometric elements forming the symbol are drawn with their original color.
  • Select a color and clear Solid color - The selected color is set to the basic geometric elements with the color property By symbol.
  • Select a color and Solid color - All the symbol geometry is drawn with the selected color.

Z Coordinate
The overlap of the symbols in the drawing can be accomplished by using the cover property. Overlapping symbols have a different Z coordinate value (Z>0), so that the symbol with the larger Z coordinate covers the symbol with the smaller Z coordinate.
Mirror horizontally, Mirror vertically
Select the horizontal or vertical mirroring of the symbol.
Layer Shift
This property is selected if you have selected to shift the layers of an element, for example, when adding or moving a symbol. In this case, layers of the symbol elements are determined so that the layer selected from the Layer list is added to the original layer.
If you want to remove this property of the symbol, clear the check box.
Lock Ratio
When this feature is selected, the X and Y scaling will have the same value. When the check box is empty, you can enter different values in the fields.
Code
The code of the symbol can consist of numbers or letters. You can edit the code if you have selected one symbol only. If the selected symbols have different codes, the field contains question marks (?).
