Add a Center Line and Handles to a Part Model
Piping Design
Prepare the part model by adding a center line and handles.
- Open the part model in the working window.
- Select the context-sensitive function  New sketch > Pipe component center lines and handles. New sketch > Pipe component center lines and handles.
- Select one of the following functions from the context-sensitive menu:- Line> 2 Points
- Line> Polyline
- Arc> Center + 2 Radius Pnts
- Arc> 3 Radius Pnts
 
- Draw a center line for the component, several if necessary.
- Select Confirm.
- Continue by adding handles at those ends of the center line to which a pipe connection will be made. As a default,  Insertion Points is selected in the dialog box. Insertion Points is selected in the dialog box.- Click Add.
- Click the end point of the centerline.
 
- Fill in the pipe link info.- Open the list by clicking  and select a numerical value for the diameter. You can also enter a numerical value in the field. For example 88.9. Note that a period (.) is used as the decimal separator. and select a numerical value for the diameter. You can also enter a numerical value in the field. For example 88.9. - If the connection is a flange connection, you also need to select Connection with a Flange.
 
- Open the list by clicking 
- Click OK.
- Once you have added all insertion points, select Exit.
Continue by saving the part in the piping component library.
Saving a Part in the Piping Component Library
- Select the context-sensitive function Save To Library> As Component.Save the piping component in the Shared/pipelibrary folder (user's library components). The software vendor will update the System/pipelibrary component during software updates. 
- If necessary, create a new subfolder in the Shared/pipelibrary folder.
- Enter the file name.
- After confirming, continue by filling in the component selection data.
