Using Depth Cues in 3D Models
Rendering
Select a foreground from the browser. Once you have selected a foreground, it is displayed in the tree. If you have already added a foreground to the model, a new selection will replace the old foreground.
- Select the perspective viewing angle for the model.
- On the tab, in the Environment group, select Foreground/Fog.
- Select the General folder in Vertex Library.
- Double-click the Depth Cue icon in the browser.
- Visualize the view by pressing Shift+P to preview the depth cue.
- If the model is entirely covered in fog, the distance between the fog and the viewing point is too small.
- If all of the fog is far beyond the model, the distance is probably too large.
- Select the foreground from the tree, and then select the context-sensitive function Edit Values.
The Foreground Editing dialog box opens.
- Click the Near depth cue parameter.
- Enter a suitable distance from the viewing point to the fog starting plane in the Properties field in millimeters.
- Click the Set button.
- Click the Far depth cue parameter.
- Enter a suitable distance from the viewing point to the plane of completely opaque fog in the Properties field in millimeters.
- Click the Set button.
- Click the Background Color depth cue parameter.
- Click the Browse button, and select a color for the fog in the window.
- Click the Set button.
- Select OK.
- Visualize the view by pressing Shift+P.
Note:
- The browser shows the My Library (user's foregrounds) and Vertex Library (software supplier's foregrounds).
- You can delete a foreground from a model by selecting the Foreground symbol from the tree and then selecting the context-sensitive function Delete.
