Prepare the Drawing for the Link

General

  • The drawing must be an archived drawing.
  • Item data must be specified for the drawing.
  • The item must be transferred to the item database.

Prepare the Drawing for the Link

  1. Open the drawing if it is not already open.
  2. Select Archives | Documents | Data.
    • The program opens the dialog box Archive Data.
  3. Select the Code function.
    • The program opens the dialog box Label Select Mode and suggests the drawing label as the item label.
  4. Approve the proposed item or enter the item label or retrieve it from the item database, if necessary.
    • You can select an existing item in the material or item database by selecting the function Select From Item Database.
  5. Confirm the item label by clicking OK.
  6. Exit the drawing archives data by selecting OK.
  7. Select the function Drawing | Mechanical | Parts List > Parts List.
    • The program opens the dialog box Collect Parts List.
  8. Select Transfer to Database.
  9. Select OK.
    • The program opens the dialog box Item Data - Item Structure.
    • Complete the item data at the top of the dialog box.
    • At the bottom of the dialog box, you can see the item structure. For example, the raw material data of the part model drawing or the part data of the assembly drawing.
  10. Select the class and the main and sub group for the item.
    • With the help of these classifications, the item is later easy to find among thousands of other items.
  11. Confirm the transfer of the item to the item database.

Check That the Item can be Found in the Item Database

  1. Select System | Databases | Product Database.
    • The program opens the dialog box Search.
  2. Enter the search criteria for the item, and select OK.
    • For example, the class and main and sub group you selected.
  3. The program lists items that meet the search criteria.
  4. Scroll through the list with the scroll bar on the right side or with the arrow up and arrow down keys.
    • You can view items in list form if you press the Shift and down arrow keys at the same time.
