Add and Edit Part Data

General

  • The part listing of independent (= drawn) drawings is based on the part numbers to which the part data is linked.
  • In model drawings, part data (item data) is linked to parts, so no part data is added to the part number.
  • The part data can be material data or item data if the items are used.
  • Part data can also be linked to other elements (lines, hatches and 2D components), but for clarity, they should only be linked to part numbers. If part data is linked to other elements, it may be difficult to find these elements later on in the drawing.
  • If you delete a part number or element to which the part data is linked from the drawing, the part data linked to the element will also be deleted.

Add Part Data to an Independent Drawing

  1. Select Drawing | Mechanical | Parts List > Edit Element Attribute Database.
  2. Click the part number (or another element for which you want to add part data).
    • For clarity, we recommend that you only add part data for part numbers.
    • The program opens the dialog box Material Data.

  3. Complete the Base Data tab as necessary.
    • Instead of manual completion, you can retrieve the data from the component database (i.e. item database). See the instructions Get Part Data from Item Database.
