Save the Model Drawing

General

  • The model is saved in the model archive.
    • The model file is an independent *.vxm file on disk or in the Flow system if Flow product data management is used.
    • The archive data related to the model is stored in the model archive or as metadata of the model object in Flow.
  • The drawing is saved in the drawing archive.
    • The drawing file is an independent *.vxp file on disk or in the Flow system if Flow product data management is used.
    • The archive data related to the drawing is stored in the drawing archive or as metadata of the drawing object in Flow.
  • Exceptionally, a model or drawing can be saved on a disk, in which case it cannot be found in the archives.

The drawing that is created from the model

Saved by default in the drawing archive when the drawing is created.

  1. Click the Drawings in the feature tree.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function New Drawing.
    • The program generates a drawing based on the properties you enter. Dialog Box: New Drawing
    • The program copies the archive data of the model to the drawing and opens the archive data of the drawing for editing.
  3. Select OK.
    • At the same time, the drawing is saved in the drawing archive.
  4. Save the model so that the new drawing remains visible in the feature tree of the model.

When you only want to make a temporary drawing

You do not want to save this drawing to the drawing archive.
  • Note that in this case the drawing will not be found in the Drawings branch of the model’s feature tree.
  1. Click the Drawings in the feature tree.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function New Drawing.
    • The program generates a drawing based on the properties you enter.
    • The program copies the archive data of the model to the drawing and opens the archive data of the drawing for editing.
  3. Select Cancel on the archive card.
    • The program will ask you Save changes?
  4. Answer No
    • The drawing is generated and you can print it, for example.
  5. You can save the drawing on your disc by using the function File > Export > Save in Another Format.
    • Use the file format Vertex 2D Drawings (*.vxp)
    • Select the folder in which the drawing file is saved.
    • Enter a name for the drawing file.
  6. When you close the drawing window from the desktop, the program asks you Save changes?
    • If you answer No, the drawing will be closed from the desktop without saving.
    • If you answer Yes, the program opens the drawing archive card and you can edit the data and save the drawing by clicking OK.

  • Click Save on the quick access toolbar.
