Add Insulation During the Line Routing
The addition of insulation is possible during the addition of a pipe or duct line. The addition works both in routing and in adding individual components. The addition of insulations can be set to active with the Insulation pushbutton on the ribbon bar.
- On the Assembly tab, in the Piping group, click Add pipeline.
- In the Properties group on the Piping tab, select Insulation.
- Enter the required values in the Insulation Properties dialog box. Any fields marked in red are mandatory. The program remembers the values while it is running and uses them by default. When the program is restarted, the dialog box fields are empty by default.
- The selection of insulation properties is automatically based on the active pipe size and possibly other input data obtained through the selected line position.
- After approval of the insulation properties, insulations are added to the model as pipes, elbows and other pipe components are added to the model. In the case of flange connections, the insulation is only added when the counter flange is added.
- When the addition of insulation is active, the insulation properties can be modified by clicking the Select button next to the Insulation push button.
- If, when adding a pipeline, after adding a cone, the insulation thickness according to the standard also changes when the pipe size changes, the Insulation Properties dialog box always opens automatically to accept the changed information.
- If the routing is started from an uninsulated straight pipe and the addition of insulation is set to active before the next point is selected, the already existing pipe will also be insulated. Ending the routing to an uninsulated straight pipe also works in the same way. If, on the other hand, routing is started from an insulated straight pipe, the addition of insulation is not automatically set to active.
Note: You should adjust the insulation transparency setting to your liking, so that primarily the added pipe parts are visible through the added insulations.
Note: Partial insulation of pipes is only possible with the Add pipeline insulations function.
Note: Adding or editing insulation is not possible when using the Change size function for a pipe or duct line or individual components. In this case, the buttons related to insulation cannot be selected. In this case, the status of the Insulation button only tells whether the line or individual component to be edited is insulated or not. The editing of insulation has its own Edit pipeline insulation function.
