Add by Walls
You can use this function to define the shape of a floor or ceiling by selecting the walls limiting the structure. If you are adding a floor or a ceiling in a drawing-model pair where walls have been added (for example, a floor can be added to the Foundation drawing-model pair), you can select the walls in the 2D drawing. A floor or a ceiling is usually added to a drawing-model pair, in which the floor plan is a reference drawing in the 2D drawing. In this case, you can select the walls in the 3D model.
In simple cases, you can add the structure automatically according to a closed exterior wall chain. Alternatively, you can select the walls one by one, or you can activate an auxiliary function after selecting the first wall, after which the next wall of a wall chain or an entire wall chain can be selected automatically. A wall chain is formed of walls connected to each other with corner joints.
The edges of a floor or ceiling reach to the reference line of the wall. The default reference line has been defined in the project parameters, and it is either the exterior or interior side of the frame. If necessary, you can change the reference line to be another wall line, or you can define the edge to run at a fixed distance from the reference line of a wall. The status bar displays the reference line and distance (offset).
Finding Exterior Walls Automatically
- If necessary, select the Reference line function, and select either exterior (EXTERIOR) or interior (INTERIOR) of the frame as the reference line from the list.
- Select the Find exterior walls automatically function. The program automatically searches the exterior wall chain in the active drawing-model pair, and adds the floor or ceiling according to wall chain.
Selecting the Walls
- Select the first wall.
- If necessary, select the Reference line function, and select the wall reference line from the list. The options on the list depend on the layers of the selected wall type. If the first wall has not yet been selected, only the outer surface of the wall (EXTERIOR) or inner surface of the wall (INTERIOR) are available.
- If necessary, define the structure edge to run at a fixed distance from the reference line of the wall. Select the function Offset from reference line, and type the distance in a text box. Positive direction is from the inner surface of the wall towards the outer surface.
- Select the other walls one by one, or select either of the following auxiliary functions:
- Next wall - When you click the button, the program selects the next wall of the wall chain.
- Linked walls - When you click the button, the program selects the rest of the wall in the wall chain.
- Select Confirm.
