Create a 2D Drawing of a Component
Begin drafting the building component from the drawing's origin. The origin is also the locating point of the component's 2D symbol. Draft the drawing so that the origin is located in the same place as in the building component's model.
Drawing Layers
When drafting a 2D symbol for a building component, you must take into consideration the layer settings of the lines, which depend on the type of the component.
Color Fill
You can define a color fill for a building component by adding a hatch to an area enclosed by a closed polyline. Add two hatches:
- Covering Hatch. A simple line hatching is sufficient for the covering hatch. Add the hatch to layer 101.
- Color Fill. Add the color fill on layer 59.
Variable drawing
If the building component is variable, draw a line with the following properties at the drawing's origin:
- Select the Fixed property for the line.
- Draw the line on layer 15, Hidden lines.
You can edit the line properties by double-clicking the line.
Add geometric constraints to the drawing, with which you can control the geometry of the macro component's 2D symbol. You can add constraints as follows:
- For example, select Drafting | Constraints | Distance.
- Add a dimension, for example Drafting | Dimensions | Dimension, and select the property Drives geometry for the dimension.
Define the dimension as a variable by entering the name of the variable in the Formula field in the dimension properties, for example WIDTH. Use the same variable names as in the macro component's model.
Add the dimension constraints to layer 15, Hidden lines, as well.
