Lock an Object Type in the Selection Filter

You can limit which objects will be selected by using object types. When an object type has been locked, only objects of the type in question will be selected. There can be several locked object types. You can select the type to be locked from the list in the Selection Filter. The type remains locked until you free it.

For example, you can use locking when clicking an object in the floor plan or in the model would otherwise be difficult (for example, clicking a roof eaves line under a roof edge line, or a countertop line under a component edge line in the floor plan).

The Selection Filter includes all the object types used in the drawing-model pair.

  1. Select Selection Filter from the tool strip.
  2. Select the object types to be locked, and if necessary, the object properties, in the dialog box.

  3. Confirm by clicking OK.

When object types have been locked, the color of the selection filter icon changes on the tool strip:

  4. Select objects by clicking or by limiting an area, or select all objects of the locked types by pressing Ctrl+A.
Note:
  • When you select object types in the 2D working window, the same selections apply to the 3D working window, and vice versa.
  • When you select all object types in use in the 2D working window, all object types are also in use in the 3D working window, and vice versa.
  • When you open another project, the selections are reset: all object types are selected.
