Execute Machining Features
Just adding a machining feature to the assembly will not machine the part. Machining is a work phase of its own.
A machining feature machines only local parts, unless machining of link part is not allowed. The changes will not be updated to the original archive model of the machined part. A machined part can be saved in the archive or in another location under a new name.
A machined part can be saved in the archive or another location under a different name.
Machining features cannot be selected. Instead, all machining features of the assembly model are executed at once.
- Execute the machining by selecting the context-sensitive function .
- If necessary, you can undo the machining by selecting the context-sensitive function .
- A part machined by the feature is highlighted in the assembly tree by the label:
- A machined part is a link part of an assembly - The extension LM in the part label.
- A machined part is a local part - The extension M in the part label.
If you edit the geometry of the machining feature or its position in the assembly after executing the features, you must re-execute the machining features by selecting the
function or press the F5 key.- You can prevent hidden parts from machining other parts in the assembly if you select Hidden Parts Disabled When Machined. Assembly Properties
- In the part properties, using the Allowed function you can allow machining of the local part by the feature in the assembly. Machining the part is prevented if Allowed ei not selected.
- Note that a part or a component that has a machining feature cannot be machined with the machining features of other parts.
- You can hide a part/component with a machining feature from the assembly model. The entire geometry of a part/component is hided. Compare with the function , which displays and hides only the machining features.
