Add an Item to an Assembly

General

  • An item describes a part or assembly. The item label is unique. It distinguishes the products described by the parts or assemblies from each other in the same way that the social security number distinguishes people from each other.
  • You can create an item for an assembly at any stage of modeling.
  • It is best to create an item for an assembly at the latest when the geometry of the assembly and the item structure data exist.
  • You can create a new item when starting a new document.
  • This instruction describes how to add an item if only Vertex G4 is used . This instruction does not describe how the items are processed if the product data management system Vertex Flow is connected to Vertex G4.
