Roof Layouts
Architectural, Framer
You can create a roof layout of a metal or tile roof. A metal roof layout shows the positions of sheets and battens on a slope. A tile roof layout shows the positions of battens, the slope area and the number of tiles. You can create work drawings of the roof slopes for the installation. When you collect the project's materials, you can print a report showing the ridge and eave lengths of each slope and the material consumption.
Before creating a roof layout, do the following:
- Check the roof properties. Double-click a roof slope to open its properties in the Area Properties dialog box. Check the following properties:
- Type of the cover material layer. The type must be one of the following:
- Roof Covering Metal
- Roof Covering Tile
- A FRAMING type layer needs to be under the cover material layer. The layer defines the properties of the battens, such as the spacing and the cross section of the battens.
- Type of the cover material layer. The type must be one of the following:
- Select a detailed configuration for the roof slopes by using the function Expand Layers. This enables the program to read the framing properties of the battens from the correct layer.
Create the roof layout as follows:
- Open the roof layout.
- Add an eave macro, if necessary.
- Add roof siding origins for the slopes of a metal roof.
- Depending on the roofing material:
- Add single sheets to the layout of a metal roof.
- Create the slope drawings.
- If necessary, number the tile rows of a tiled roof in a roof slope drawing
Note:
- Before you create the layout of a tile roof, you can move the roof eaves in order to fit the slope length to the batten and tile spacing by using the functions Match Side Eave Location to Roof Tile Size or Match Gable Eave Location to Roof Tile Size.
- If the roofing material is other than metal sheet or tile, you will receive an error message: "Roof cover type is not supported".
