Adding an Associative Dimension Attached to a Dimension Point

When the 2D Constraint Manager is enabled, all the dimensions to be added are automatically associative dimensions. When the 2D Constraint Manager is disabled, you can add an associative dimension as follows:

  1. Select Drafting | Dimensions | Dimension, for example.
  2. When the associative dimensions are enabled, the auxiliary function Associativity of a Dimension is selected by default. If necessary, you can disable the associativity of a dimension by clicking the button in the auxiliary function menu which opens by right-clicking.
    • Dimension is associative.
    • Dimension is not associative.
If the 2D Constraint 2D- Manager is enabled, Associativity of dimension is not displayed in the auxiliary function menu.
  3. Select the other dimension properties.

    Select Additional Dimension Properties

  4. Depending on the selected dimensioning method, select the elements to be dimensioned or the start and end points of the dimension.

When dimensioning wall openings, select the dimension point from the edge line between the wall and the opening. If you select the dimension point from a line that belongs just to the opening, associativity will not be created. Associativity is also not created when building components other than walls and their openings are dimensioned.

  5. Select the position of the dimension.

Note: The automatic dimensioning of interior walls, profiles and trusses also creates associative dimensions.
Note: When you are automatically dimensioning the floor plan drawing of a building, you can add the dimensions as associative by selecting the Associative dimensions check box in the Automatic Dimensioning dialog box.
