Layers Dialog Box

Select the layers to be shown or hidden in the drawing, or the layers to be printed. The dialog box opens in the following ways:

  • When you want to select the visible layers in the drawing, click Select from the tool strip.
  • When you print a drawing, select Layer selection: Printing layers, and click Select.
  • When you are adding a reference drawing and you want to select its visible layers, select Selected layers, and click Layer selection.
Layer Scheme
A layer scheme is a set of layers with certain numbers and names. Vertex can include several layer schemes. Select the layer scheme from the list.
  • Drawing specific layers - The layer scheme of the drawing. For example, the layer scheme of a drawing created with another Vertex application.
  • Default layer scheme - Software supplier’s default layer scheme or a customer-specific default layer scheme.
  • DWG/DGN imported layers - The layer scheme of a DWG/DGN file converted to a Vertex drawing.
You can restore the layers and layer groups of the default layer scheme to the drawing by selecting Default layer scheme from the list. In this case, you will be prompted: This will replace drawing specific layers, overwriting possible changes in them. Replace layers?
  • Yes - Drawing specific layers will be replaced with the selected layer scheme.
  • No- Drawing specific layers will be retained.
Layer Schemes
Layers
Only the layer scheme layers with objects will be displayed on the list. You can display all layers on the list by clearing the check box Hide empty layers from the list.
Change the visibility of the layers.
  • Show or hide a layer by clicking it on the list.
    • Layer visible
    • Layer hidden
    • Hidden layer visible
    • Hidden layer hidden
  • Make all layers visible by clicking the All button.
  • Hide all layers by clicking the Clear button.
You can display the layer numbers on the layer list as follows:
  1. Right-click in the layer list.
  2. Select Numbering.
You can set the numbers off by reselecting the function.
You can arrange the layers in numerical order or in alphabetical order.
  1. Right-click in the layer list.
  2. Select either of the following:
    • Numeric order
    • Alphabetical order
Layer groups
Select a layer group from the list. Layers belonging to the layer group will be shown, and the layers not belonging to the group are hidden. Select more than one layer group by holding down Ctrl while clicking with the left mouse button.
Note:
  • When you save a drawing, the data of visible layers is saved into it, if the setting Keep Layer Scheme Saved in Drawing is enabled. When you open the drawing next time, layers will be activated according to this information.
