Storage Options When Closing a Building

Close an active building by selecting > Close Building or Archives | Buildings | Close.

Once you are logged in to DesignStream, you can export the building to the DesignStream server. This requires that the building's id has been retrieved from the DesignStream system. In the dialog box, under Storage, there are options from which you can choose what to do with the building.

When you are closing a building which is stored in the local archive and has not yet been exported to the server, select either of the following:

  • Check-In to DesignStream - The building will be compressed into a VXZ file and exported to the server. The building will be removed from the local archive. You can reopen the building by checking it out from the server. Select the check-in method of the project and the document publication in the Check-In to DesignStream dialog box.
  • Do not Check-In to DesignStream, reserved not unchecked - The building stays in the local archive, from which you can reopen it for editing.
When you are closing a building which you have checked out from the server, select one of the following:
  • Check-In to DesignStream - The building will be compressed into a VXZ file and checked in with changes to the server. The building will be removed from the local archive. You can reopen the building by checking it out from the server. Select the check-in method and the document publication in the Check-In to DesignStream dialog box. You will then return to the Close Building dialog box.
  • Uncheck Building from DesignStream - The building is released on the server and another user can check out the building. Any changes you made will not be checked in on the server. In addition, you will receive the prompt: "Do you want to delete building and building folder from the local archive?" Select either of the following:
    • Yes - The building will be removed from the local archive. You can reopen the building by checking it out from the server.
    • No - The building remains in the local archive. If no other user has checked out the building from the server, you can check out the building again for yourself by opening it from the local archive.
  • Keep building reserved from DesignStream - The building stays in the local archive, from which you can reopen it for editing. Other users cannot check out the building from the server.
