Edit the IFC Conversion Rule Library

IFC Converter

You can save rules to define how the IFC objects will be converted to Vertex BD objects in the conversion rule library.

  1. Select System | IFC > IFC Conversions, and move the cursor to the folder section of the libraries.
  2. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu, and select New Library.
  3. Enter a name for the library, and select OK.
  4. Move the cursor to the section of the conversion rules, right-click to open the context-sensitive menu and select one of the following:
    • New wall conversion rule
    • New profile conversion rule
    • New floor, ceiling and roof conversion rule
    • New common conversion rule
    • New type conversion rule
  5. Enter a label for the new rule in the “Setting Name?” dialog box and click OK.
  6. Define the conversion rules in the Create Conversion Rule dialog box.
  7. Save by clicking OK.
Note:
  • You can return to edit the conversion rule. Double-click the rule, or select the rule, right-click to open the context-sensitive menu and select Edit.
  • You can create a new rule by copying an existing one. Select the rule, right-click to open the context-sensitive menu, and select Copy.
  • You can change the rule label. Select the rule, right-click to open the context-sensitive menu and select Rename.
  • You can delete the rule. Select the rule, right-click to open the context-sensitive menu, and select Delete.
Note: You can add new rules and edit the exising rules also when converting IFC objects to Vertex BD objects. New rules will be saved in a building-specific conversion rule library. You can recognize a building-specific conversion rule library from the [P] symbol.
