Edit a Smart Model

Sub Projects

You can edit a smart model in the following ways:

Edit the objects of the smart model in the main model

  1. Make the changes in the main model. A smart model is a sub model that does not form a closed block like normal sub models. So you can edit the objects in the smart model in the main model as well.
  2. You can connect new objects to the smart model.
  3. Save the changes to the smart model in the main model.
  4. Update the changes to other smart models with the same ID in the same main model.

In other main models, the up-to-dateness of the smart model is checked when the building is opened, in which case you can choose to update the model.

Open the smart model building from the main model

  1. Open the smart model building from the main model.
  2. Edit the objects selected to the smart model. You should not make any changes to the environment of the smart model, because they will not be transferred to the main model. If necessary, mark the environment of the smart model.
  3. Save and close the building. The main model opens and the geometry of the smart model automatically updates to all the smart models with the same ID in the main model.
In other main models, the up-to-dateness of the smart model is checked when the building is opened, in which case you can choose to update the model.

Open the smart model building by using the Open Building function

  1. Open a smart model building from the building archive as usual by using the function > Open Building.
  2. Edit the objects selected to the smart model. You should not make any changes to the environment of the smart model, because they will not be transferred to the main model. If necessary, mark the environment of the smart model.
  3. Save and close the building.
  4. Open the main model. The program checks the up-to-dateness of the sub models in the main model. In this case, sub models are smart models.
  5. In the Smart Model Status dialog box, select to update the smart model to the main model. The options in the dialog box are the same as in the Sub Model Status dialog box.
