Edit the Customer-specific IFC Conversion Rule Library

IFC Converter

As a system administrator, you can save rules for converting IFC objects to Vertex BD objects in a customer-specific conversion rule library. The rules are available in all buildings. If you do not have system administrator privileges, you can save the rule in a building-specific library.

After you have defined the conversion rules, you can convert IFC objects using Convert IFC Objects to Vertex Objects or Convert the Selected IFC Object to a Vertex Object.

  1. Select IFC | Tools | IFC > IFC conversions. The browser opens.
  2. Select a customer-specific library in the left side browser pane, or create a new customer-specific library as follows:
    1. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu, and select New Library.
    2. Enter a name for the library, and select OK.
  3. Move the cursor to the section of the conversion rules in the right side browser pane, right-click to open the context-sensitive menu and select one of the following:
    • New wall conversion rule
    • New profile conversion rule
    • New floor, ceiling and roof conversion rule
    • New door conversion rule
    • New window conversion rule
    • New space conversion rule
    • New common conversion rule
    • New type conversion rule
  4. Define the conversion rule in the Create Conversion Rule dialog box.

  5. Save by clicking OK.
Note:
  • You can return to edit the conversion rule. Double-click the rule, or select the rule, right-click to open the context-sensitive menu and select Edit.
  • You can create a new rule by copying an existing one. Select the rule, right-click to open the context-sensitive menu, and select Copy.
  • You can change the rule label. Select the rule, right-click to open the context-sensitive menu and select Rename.
  • You can delete the rule. Select the rule, right-click to open the context-sensitive menu, and select Delete.
  • The function is available only if you are a system administrator.
