Edit the Building-specific IFC Conversion Rule Library

You can edit the building-specific conversion rules for converting IFC objects to Vertex BD objects.

After you have defined the conversion rules, you can convert IFC objects using Convert IFC Objects to Vertex Objects or Convert the Selected IFC Object to a Vertex Object.

  1. Open the building's document browser.
  2. Select the id of the building.
  3. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
  4. Select Building libraries. The library browser opens. The browser displays the system's standard libraries, the customer-specific libraries and the building-specific libraries.
  5. Do either of the following:
    • Edit an existing library. Select the folder Building libraries / IFC / IFC-BD conversion rules / [Library description].
    • Create a new library by copying a conversion rule from the system library or customer-specific library.
      1. Open the browser folder System libraries / IFC / IFC-BD conversion rules or Custom libraries / IFC / IFC-BD conversion rules.
      2. Select the conversion rule library.
      3. Select one or more conversion rules in the right side browser pane.
      4. Right-click to open the context-sensitive menu.
      5. Select Copy to new building library.
      6. Type a description for the library.
  6. Right-click and select Edit library. The browser opens.
  7. Select a building-specific conversion rule library. You can recognize a building-specific conversion rule library from the [P] symbol.
  8. Do either of the following:
    • To edit the conversion rule, double-click the rule thumbnail in the right side browser pane. Edit the rule in the dialog box: Create a Conversion Rule Dialog Box.
    • To create a new conversion rule, right-click and select one of the following:
      • New wall conversion rule
      • New profile conversion rule
      • New floor, ceiling and roof conversion rule
      • New door conversion rule
      • New window conversion rule
      • New space conversion rule
      • New common conversion rule

      Enter the rule name in a text box. Define the rule in the dialog box: Create a Conversion Rule Dialog Box.

Note: The library is only available in the building in question. You can delete a library by editing the conversion rule library when the project is open, or by deleting the library's folder in Windows File Explorer. The folder is located in the building's complibs folder: ../shared/projects/building_name/complibs/ifc_conversion_proj.
