Partial Section View

You can add a partial section view to a projection. With a closed line chain, for example a polyline, a limited area is cut to a desired depth, revealing the inner structure of the part.

Create a partial section view as follows:

  1. Create a new projection or open an existing projection for editing.
  2. Select Drawing | Lines | Polyline. More options...Less options...
    • (OR) Select some other line tool that can be used to create a closed line chain.
  3. Draw the perimeter for the partial section view.
Note: The line chain must be closed and uniform.
  4. Finish drawing by pressing the middle mouse button.
  5. Select the projection onto which you drew the perimeter so that it is highlighted in green.
  6. Select the context-sensitive function Partial Section View.
  7. Select the perimeter, or the line chain that you drew in step 3.
  8. Press the middle mouse button to accept the selection of the perimeter.
  9. From the model, select the section cut depth. Select a point from the model in the opened model window.

The partial section view is drawn to the projection. The perimeter that you drew is set on a hidden layer which you can make visible by selecting the tool strip function Hidden Layers On/Off. You can edit the perimeter or delete it, after which the drawing must be updated by selecting the context-sensitive function Update.
