Edit Named Elements

You can add or delete named elements of a part or an assembly.

  • The named elements are displayed by type in a list in the dialog box.
  • When you change element type, the contents of the list change.
  • Unattached elements are indicated on the list with an asterisk (*).
  • The same characters that can be used in file names are available for element names. Element names specified using this function are used in the functions of the design automation system.

Edit the named elements as follows:

  1. Do either of the following:
    • Move the cursor over an assembly symbol in the feature tree. Assembly Tree
    • Select a part in the assembly.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function Other Functions > Edit Named Elements....
  3. Name a new element using the dialog box functions as follows:
    • Select an Element type: Points, Lines, Faces, Dimension Points tai Reference Points.
    • Click Add.
    • Select a point, line or face from the part.
  4. Delete an element using the dialog box functions.
    • Select an element type.
    • Select the element label from the list.
    • Click Delete.
  5. Click the Attach button to select a new point, line or face to reattach unattached elements.
  6. Click the Data button to edit pipe connection data.
  7. Finally, select Exit.
