Name a Part Element

You can name an element selected from a part. The element can be one of the following:

  • Face
  • Line
  • Point

The same characters that can be used in this software file names are available for element names.

The assigned names are used in the Design Automation System's (DAS) functions and when changing a part in an assembly. The name of the face is the same in the replacement part and the part being replaced.

  1. Select a face, line, or a point from a part.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function Properties.
  3. Name the element.
Note:
  • The name assigned to the point, line or face is shown in the tooltip when you hover the cursor over the model element.
  • Naming a point has been implemented by adding a dimension point macro or an insertion point to the point. This must be taken into account in the functions of the design automation system.
