Copy Attribute Data From one Element to Another

General

  • You can copy attribute data (now mostly part data) given to an element to another element.
  • This function was once more useful when several different attribute databases were used in the drawings, in which case the function asked which attribute database to copy data from.
  • You can use the function, for example, if you have added two or more part numbers with the same number to the drawing, in which case the data given for one part number should be copied for other part numbers with the same number.
    • Instead of using several part numbers with the same number, it is recommended to use the reference part number.

Copy attributes from one element to another

Copy attributes from one element to another. Part data is defined as attribute data that is associated with a certain element type. You can copy the source element data to a target element of a different type.

  1. Select Drawing | Mechanical | Parts List > Copy Attribute Data.
  2. Click the source element, from which the data is copied.
  3. Click the target element, to which the data is copied.
    • If the target element already has attribute data, the program asks: Clear existing destination attribute information.
  4. If the target element already has attribute data, answer the question
    • Yes: Old attribute data (part data) will be overwritten.
    • No: The element gets more attribute data (part data), which is not a meaningful solution from the point of view of part lists.
