Delete Projects

General

  • Make sure the backups are in order before deleting projects.
  • By deleting a project, you delete the project data and all the documents created in the project: models, drawings and other files.
  • You cannot undo the deletion.
  • You cannot delete an active project.
  • Never delete a project using Windows File Explorer, because then the archive data will assume that the project, models and drawings are still there, even though the files have been deleted.
  • You can also delete a project using the Vertex browser.

Delete a project and all the files it contains

  1. Select Archives | Projects | Maintenance > > Delete Projects.
    • The program opens the dialog box Search Data.
  2. Enter the project search data.
    • YouYou can enter the name of the project, the names of the responsible persons, a description, the customer's name and label, the status of the project or the date of creation as search data.
    • When defining search terms, you can use an asterisk (*) to replace several characters or a question mark (?) to replace a single character.
  3. Click OK to accept the search criteria.
    • The program lists the projects that meet the search criteria.
    • If you did not enter any search criteria, all projects are included in the list.
  4. Select one or more projects from the list.
    • Hold down the Ctrl key if you you want to select several projects.
    • Hold down the Shift key if you want to select consecutive projects from the list.
    • We recommend that you compress the project before you delete the project.
  5. Click OK to accept the project selected for deletion.
    • The program tells you which files are lost during the deletion and asks you to confirm the deletion.
  6. Answer if you really want to delete the project.
    • Yes: The project and all the files it contains will be deleted without the possibility of a restore.
    • No: The project will not be deleted.

Use the browser to delete the project

  1. Open the browser.
    • Press the B key or
    • select File > Open.
  2. List the projects by selecting Projects > All Projects from the tree on the left.
  3. Select the project to be deleted.
  4. Select the context-sensitive function Delete Project.
    • The program confirms that you really want to delete the project.
  5. Answer if you really want to delete the project.
    • Yes: The project and all the files it contains will be deleted without the possibility of a restore.
    • No: The project will not be deleted.
