Collect a Parts List from the Model

General

  • The parts list is collected from the model when only Vertex G4 is used.
  • If Vertex Flow product data management system is connected to Vertex G4, the parts list is collected from the item corresponding to the model in Flow.

Data collects in the parts list of a part model

The part list of the part model shows the material data or item data assigned to the raw material.

  • Enter the item data of the part with the context-sensitive function Item Data or
  • enter material data of the part with the function: Part | Tools | Material.
  • Preform dimensions (Preform/Shape) and area (Amount) of a sheet-metal part.
  • The preform dimensions (Preform/Shape) and area (Quantity) of a composite sheet are calculated automatically, according to the overall dimensions and taking the direction of the plate into consideration, and updated in the material data. You can also collect a parts list without a drawing.

Data collects in the parts list of an assembly

  • From the archive data of parts or sub-assemblies, if no item has been defined for the part or assembly.
  • From the item data, if an item has been defined for the part or sub-assembly.
  • In profile parts, amount (mm) and in some parts list printouts, cutting angles.
  • The preform dimensions (Preform/Shape) and area (Quantity) of a composite sheet are calculated automatically, according to the overall dimensions and taking the direction of the plate into consideration, and updated in the material data. You can also collect a parts list without a drawing.
  • The extra parts defined for an assembly.
  • The parts of a subassembly will be included in the parts list of the main-level assembly if Explode to Parts List has been defined as a property of the subassembly.
  • 2D part data added to the part numbers (or other elements) of the drawing.
    • It is not recommended to add part numbers to assembly model drawings for which part data is added using the function Drawing | Mechanical | Parts List > Edit Element Attribute Database.

Print the parts list

  1. Select Assembly | Tools | Collect Parts List or
    • select Drawing | Mechanical | Parts List > Parts List or
    • select the context-sensitive function Parts List in the drawing.
    • The program opens the dialog box Collect Parts List.
  2. Define the parts list data in the dialog box:
    • Parts List Collection Data.
      • Select the output format. Select the preset button and select from the list.
      • Select the roll-out. Select the preset button and select from the list.
      • If necessary, use the preset button to select a configuration if the model has multiple configurations.
      • If necessary, select Transfer to Database to move the part or assembly with its item structure to the item database (d_COMPONENTS).
      • If necessary, select All configurations.
      • If necessary, select Print configuration table.
      • If necessary, select Table drawing.
  3. Select OK.
    • The parts list is printed, depending on the print format you choose, to the drawing, text file or Excel.

Updating a Bill of Materials

You can update a parts list collected to a drawing in the following ways:

  • Press the function key F5, which updates the drawing.
    • For F5 to update the parts list, the SETUP file in the user's home directory (../vxg4/user) must have the keyword set.update.all_plists= 1.
  • Select the context-sensitive function Update drawing.
  • If there are several parts lists in the drawing, they can all be updated with the F5 key or the Update drawing function.
    • Drawings usually do not have more than one parts list.
    • For F5 to update all parts lists, the SETUP file in the user's home directory (../vxg4/user) must have the keyword set.update.all_plists= 1.
