Methods of Adding an Eave Line

An eave line of a sketch roof can be added using either points, walls or lines. When adding an eave line by using walls or lines, the eave overhang can be measured from the exterior surface of the wall frame. Otherwise the eave overhang is measured from the exterior surface of the wall's exterior siding. The method of selection is selected from the auxiliary menu.

Add by Points

This function is used to add an eave line by selecting the points of the line in a 2D drawing. The points are selected rotating clockwise.

  1. Click the line points.
  2. Select Confirm.

Add by Walls

This function is used to add an eave line by selecting in the 3D model of the building those walls, through which the eave line will run. The walls are selected rotating clockwise. A wall can be clicked from either side. The roof overhang is always added on the outside of the wall (it is thus important that the walls be added correctly). If the program cannot find a wall in the selected point, the eave line will be added according to the clicked line. If the program cannot find a line either, the eave line will be added according to the clicked point.

You can also select beams, when you click the walls/beams in the floor plan drawing, and the 2D presentation of the beams is Box. Click the walls/beams in the floor plan in which they were added (not in a reference drawing).

  1. Activate the Roof overhang by exterior line of wall function in the auxiliary menu, if necessary.
  2. Select the walls according to which the eave line is to be added.
  3. Select Confirm.

Add by Lines

This function is used to add an eave line by selecting the lines in a 2D drawing according to which the eave line will run. The eave line is added at the distance defined by the roof overhang from the selected line. The line is clicked from the side on which the roof overhang is to be added. The lines are selected rotating clockwise. If the program cannot find a line at the clicked point, the eave line will be added according to the clicked point.

  1. Activate the Roof overhang by exterior line of wall function in the auxiliary menu, if necessary.
  2. Select the lines according to which the eave line is added.
  3. Select Confirm.

When this function is activated, the eave line is added at a distance defined by the roof overhang from the outer surface of the wall frame. Otherwise the roof overhang is defined from the outer surface of exterior siding.
