Convert IFC Objects to Vertex BD Objects
IFC Converter
Define how to convert an IFC object to a Vertex BD object. Each selected IFC object is displayed on its own row in the dialog box. You can create following Vertex BD objects:
- walls
- floors, decks
- roofs
- windows and doors with a wall
- profiles
When the IFC object is a wall, profile or a floor, ceiling or roof, you can select a conversion rule for it, defining the properties of the Vertex BD object to be created. A wall conversion rule can also define the conversion of windows and doors in the wall. Conversion rules are not available for other object types. They will be converted by using the properties and geometry of the IFC objects. You can later edit the properties of a Vertex BD object born this way.
- Name
- Name of the IFC object.
- Original type
- The original type of the IFC object.
- Converted as type
- If the program cannot process the original object type included in the IFC model, you can select the type you want the IFC object to be processed as. You can then use the conversion rules that are appropriate for that type. This does not alter the original type of the IFC object.
- Conversion
- Select one of the conversion rules saved in the library. The list displays the rules that are appropriate for the type in the Converted as type field. The rule is in the following format in the list:
- Convert
- Convert IFC objects to Vertex BD objects using the selected rules. Select the objects in either of the following ways:
- Select the rows of those objects that you want to convert, and click Convert.
- Do not select any object. In this case, the program converts all the objects collected in the dialog box list, when you click Convert.
- Delete conversion
- Delete the conversions. You can select the objects in the same way as when making the conversion.
- Status
- The status can be one of the following:
- Type’s conversion not supported - Select another type from the Converted as type list.
- Sub part of another conversion - The part may have been converted along with the parent part, even if it has not been selected to be converted. For example, windows when converting walls.
- Conversion succeeded
- Conversion failed
- Conversions deleted - Number of the deleted conversions.
- Properties of selection
- View the properties of the selected object.
- Selected conversion
- View the conversion rule selected for the object. You can edit the rule by clicking Edit rule. The changes are saved in the library.
