Models on a Network Server

Sub Projects

When you are using a network server installation, the building archive shared by all users is located on the server. The designer can open the shared model directly from the building archive.

Main designer

  1. Create a shared model of the main model in the common building archive. Enter the shared model an ID in such a way that it is easy to determine from which main model the shared model was made.
  2. Save the main model.
  3. Tell the designer the ID of the shared model.

Designer

  1. Open the shared model’s building from the common building archive. The building document browser displays the text (Shared Model) after the building name.
  2. Design. For example, design panels.
  3. Save the building.
  4. Tell the main designer that the design is complete.

    • Open the main model’s building. Select the data to be updated in the Smart Model Status dialog box. You can update the geometry of the smart model by clicking Update Geometry. In addition to the geometry, you can update the smart model’s material data, panel drawings and part drawings by clicking Update All. When the smart model is up-to-date, the buttons are not available.
The options in the dialog box are the same as in the Sub Model Status dialog box.Objects added to the shared model are copied to the main model.
    • If the main model’s building is already open, select the shared model and check that it is up-to-date.
  2. A dialog box opens where you can choose to update the sub model, i.e. the shared model, to the main model.
