Collect Wiring Database
Collects wiring database from all internal wiring -type connections (and cabled depending on settings) from active drawing and associated drawings.
To get correct wiring information certain rules must be used when drawing wiring diagrams.
- Select the function Cable Harnesses> Collect Wiring Database.
- Enter name of the resulting wiring database in a file dialog. Database name based on drawing number and revision tag is given as default.
Possible errors detected during wire collection can be checked using Tools>Log File Browser> Collect Wiring.
Instructions for drawing wiring diagrams
Devices and labels
Device labels may have position part and position areas can be used but devices must be referenced using their full label in harness drawings.
Entity label =WIRING_DIAGRAM is an exception. It can be used to denote wiring diagram part of a combined wiring diagram/harness drawing. This entity part is discarded and is used simple to make distinction between connections of harness and connections of wiring
Connection side setting of pins (male/female)
Pre ED18 versions of harness application connection side has not been collected, but this information is now included in the database.
This information can be given in symbol connection point (1/2, m/f, u/n) or this can be given using Contact Label function (option buttons: Set terminal wiring side 1/2). Wiring side 1 depicts male side, and 2 female side.
Drawing connections
Connection to wiring table must be drawn as type 'Internal wiring' or cabled (setting WL_COLL_MODE). Each connection line must connect device pins. Off-page connector can be used. T-joints will not produce practical results for wiring.
Wire labels
Labels for connection of type 'Internal wiring' are given as follows:
Note that label parts are separated by a space.
Cable Label | "<label> <colour>" | example: 56b bl |
Wire Label | "<type> <area>" | example: AJ 1.5 |
If the labels are not given, harness settings can be set to produce automatic labelling.
Cabled wires are given labels in wiring diagrams when using cable input functions. Harness setting WL_CBLBL_SEP defines a delimiter for naming cable wires in wiring database (for example: cable/wire)
You may check diagrams for missing labels etc by using Form-set operations' Diagram checks function.
