Creating a Covering Symbol

You can create a covering symbol (covering symbol) and save it in the symbol library. Overlapping symbols can be visualized in a drawing when a symbol placed over another symbol has been defined as covering.

In general terms, you can create a covering symbol as follows:

  1. Draft the shape of the symbol as an unbroken shape line.
  2. Add section lines inside the unbroken shape line on layer 101.
  3. Make a group out of the shape and section lines.
  4. Save the group in the symbol library as a normal symbol.

Adding a Covering Symbol

  1. Select a covering symbol (covering symbol) from the library.
  2. If the symbol has not previously been given a Z coordinate value, enter such a value.

Overlapping symbols have a different Z coordinate value (Z>0), so that the symbol with the larger Z coordinate covers the symbol with the smaller Z coordinate.

  3. You can later edit the value of the Z coordinate by selecting the symbol, and then the Properties function.
  4. The covering property can be seen when you hide layer 101 and remove the hidden lines.
