Main Equipment and Their Handles

Piping Design

You can also define pipe connections to tank couplings.

Select the part for editing and add the handles for the pipe connection.

In order for Vertex to be able to fill in the connection data, the part must be defined as a pipe component while the handle is being added.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Model the new component or model to which a pipe connection is being added.
    • Open a component or model to which a pipe connection is being added.
    • In the assembly, select a part to which to a pipe connection is being added for editing.
  2. Select a part and then select the context-sensitive function Properties.
  3. Select Pipe Component as the type and select OK.
  4. Select the part.
  5. Select a point of the part to which you wish to add a handle.
  6. Select the context-sensitive function Add Handle.
  7. Define the starting direction for the pipe.

Indicate the direction of the Z axis (blue axis) by specifying the surface that should be perpendicular to the starting pipe.

  8. Fill in the pipe connection data as well as the diameter and flange connection data, if necessary.
  9. Select OK.
  10. Select the part, the Properties function and clear Pipe Component.
  11. Exit the part editing view.
  12. You can continue the connection with a pipe. If the size is defined in the handle, the program finds a suitable pipe size.
