Defines the type, name, saving location and item data for a new document.
Dialog Box Options
- Document type
- Defines the type of the new document. Select Part,
Assembly or Drawing.
- Document type determines whether part modeling, assembly modeling or drafting functions
are available in the working window's context-sensitive menu or toolbar.
- You can select the radio button
Assembly only when the Advanced 3D Modeling add-on option is
available to you.
- Label
- Defines a label for the document. Name the document without an extension (vxp or
vxm).

Naming a Document
- You can leave the document unnamed and just select a document type. The new document's
label in the working window tree will be the selected document type, Part or Assembly. You
can later store the document with the
> Save
function or leave the document unsaved by closing it.
- WG document
- This feature is not used in the Vertex BD application.
- To project
- If you wish to save the document in a project, select To project.
Add to archive will then also be selected.
- If you have not yet opened a project or wish to create the document for a project other
than the one currently open, activate the old project:
- Click the Select button.
- Fill in the search criteria in the Project Search Data dialog box. You can define
one or more search terms. You can shorten a search term with an asterisk (*).
- Confirm by clicking the OK button.
- Select the project from the list. The project becomes active and you will be
returned to the New Document dialog box.
- If the document does not belong to a certain project, leave the To
project checkbox unselected.
- WG connection
- This feature is not used in the Vertex BD application.
- Add to archive
- Defines the archive as the document's saving location. In this case, the document can be
used in several different projects.
- Click the Archives Data button and enter the preliminary archives
data for the document. This function is available when you are creating a document in the
archive.
- In the Archives Data dialog box, you can enter, for example, the document name,
designer, creation date and the document type (part/assembly). The data can be edited and
complemented later.
- If you create a new item to match the part or assembly you intend to model, click the
Item Data button and fill in the item data. This function is
available when you are creating a document in the archive and the own item data
specification is in use.
- Add to file
- Defines the saving folder for a file, model file (vxm) or drawing file (vxp), which you
can select from the folder structure by clicking the Browse
button.
- If you have not activated a project and you do not select the folder, the file is saved
in the general document folder Shared/picts.
- Local
- Select the checkbox when modeling a local part. This function is available when you are
modeling a new part in an assembly.
- Location
- Shows the document's directory path in the directory tree, in accordance with the data
you specified for the document.
