Sketch a Part

After determining the archives data and properties of a part, you can begin to sketch the part by drawing the first sketch. This can be done in the sketching mode.

The origin of the sketch will be set in the origin of the part model, and the sketching plane is in accordance with the global coordinate system.

  1. On the tab, in the Sketch group, click To lateral (YZ) plane.
  2. Do either of the following:
    • Draw the sketch.
    • Add an existing sketch. Select the sketch in the Browser. Edit the sketch, if necessary.
  3. Select Confirm.

In Context-sensitive Menu

  1. Select the context-sensitive function.
    • New Sketch> To horizontal (XY) plane.
    • New Sketch> To vertical (XZ) plane.
    • New Sketch> To lateral (YZ) plane.
    • New Sketch> 3D Sketch.
    • New Sketch> Pipe Component Center Lines and Handles.
  2. Do either of the following:
    • Draw the sketch.
    • Add an existing sketch. Select the context-sensitive function Open Sketch or select the sketch in the Browser. Edit the sketch, if necessary.
  3.  Select Confirm.
Note:
  • The working window is cleared when you delete the entire geometry of the part, or exit from the first sketch without drawing the sketch. You can then start sketching anew by adding a sketch to a face.
