Add a Machining Feature to an Assembly

Because only parts or library components can be added to an assembly, the machining feature must be a modeling phase of one of them.

The part containing the machining feature is selected from the model archive or the component library, it is added to the assembly and positioned by using geometric constraints.

The machining feature is highlighted in the model with red color. Features controlled by the table IDs of the dimension table are associated with the original machining feature.

  1. Open the Browser. Browse - Archives
  2. Search for a part or a component in the browser.
    • Select Part in the browser.
    • Select Component in the browser.
  3. Select a machining feature (part/component).
  4. Define the size with the dimension table, if the machining feature has been defined as editable.
  5. If necessary, rotate the machining feature.
  6. Select a position for the machining feature in the assembly, or several positions if you wish to add more than one copy of the same machining feature in the assembly.
  7. Confirm the addition of the machining feature by selecting Confirm.
  8. Position the machining feature by using geometric constraints.
