Add a Distance Constraint

Set the distance value between two parts. You can do this by clicking the element (point, line or face) to be affected by the constraint on both parts. You can add the constraint to the spline face, also.

If the result is not what you expected, you can flip the Distance constraint or change its side.

  1. On the tab, in the Constraints group, click Add distance constraint.
  2. Select the first part (A).
  3. Select the appropriate face, line or point (B) on the first part.
  4. Select the second part (C).
  5. Select the appropriate face, line or point (D) on the second part.
  6. Edit the value of the distance in the dialog box, and select OK.
Note:
  • You can also use the function by first selecting the two parts and then selecting the context-sensitive function Distance. Select the second part Ctrl+right mouse button.
  • You can undo the constraint last added by using the Undo function or by pressing Ctrl+Z before exiting constraint definition. The previous constraint solution is not restored.
  • Zoom the part view by the Z key to select an element. Zoom all by pressing the A key.
  • You can specify the Distance constraint as configuration-specific and set limiting values for the dimension constraint. Select the constraint and the context-sensitive function Edit.

    Edit Constraint

  • Move a part by moving the cursor onto a part, then moving the mouse while holding down the left mouse button.
