New Sketch on a User-specified Plane

In Context-sensitive Menu

  1. From the model, select the elements that define the plane. Use the CTRL key for the selection. Select three points, or a point and a line, or a point and a planar face.
  2. Select the context-sensitive function New Sketch.
  3. Draw a sketch or read an existing sketch from the sketch library.
  4. Accept the sketch by selecting the context-sensitive function OK or cancel it by selecting the context-sensitive function Exit.
Note:
  • Select a point, then select two more points by pressing CTRL+left mouse button. The first selected point defines the origin of the sketch, the second defines the direction of the X axis and the third defines the direction of the plane.
  • Select a point and select a line by pressing CTRL+left mouse button. The start point of the line is the origin of the sketch. The point defines the orientation of the plane.
  • Select a point and select a planar face by pressing CTRL+left mouse button. The point defines the origin of the sketch, The face defines the direction of the plane.
  • If you select elements that don't define a plane, the function New Sketch will not be in the context-sensitive menu. For example if you select three points that are all on the same line.
