Edit the Properties of a Rendering Material
Rendering
General
- The type of properties you can modify depends on the material. Some of the materials are based on mathematical models and some may be image files, for example.
- The properties are grouped on different tabs in the dialog box.
- You can also save the edited material in the Material Library.
-
Only the Color shading property always requires a value. Other properties may also be set to None, meaning the shading property is not used.
- You cannot edit the materials of the parts in an assembly using the function chain described below.
Edit the Properties of a Rendering Material
- Select a surface or surfaces of a part model, if necessary.
- If you do not select a surface in the part model, the editing applies to all surfaces in the part model that have not been given a separate rendering material.
- Hold down the Ctrl key if you select more than one surface.
- Select the context-sensitive function Rendering> Edit Material.
- The program opens the dialog box Edit Material.
- The content of the dialog box may be different depending on the rendering material.
- Select the necessary tab in the dialog box.
- For example, Color.
- Click the property to be edited.
- For example, The color property on the Color tab.
- Edit the properties of the rendering material.
- For example, The RGB values of the color on the Color tab.
- Material Shader Properties
- Update the change in the preview image by clicking the Refresh button.
- Save the changes by clicking OK.
Dialog Box Options
- Tab: General
- You can select following properties.
- General
- You can select a category, color, or other properties for the rendering material.
- You can select properties from the list presented by the preset button.
- Tab: Color
- Edit the shading properties of the color.
- Tab: Reflectance
- Edit the shading properties of reflectance.
- Tab: Displacement
- Edit the shading properties of surface displacement.
- Tab: Transparency
- Edit the shading properties of transparency.
- Tab: Texture
- Edit the shading properties of the texture.
- Tab: Hatch
- If a hatch is set on the surface, you can modify the properties of the hatch.
- Hatch setting for surfaces is an old feature of the program. They were used to control the direction and scale of the texture.
- Nowadays, there are no ways to set hatches on surfaces.
